Product Description

General Introduction:
Raytek's laser beam extender can expand the diameter of the collimating input beam to a larger collimating output beam. Beam extenders are often used in applications such as laser scanning, interferometry, or telemetry. Today's laser beam extenders are focal-free system designs developed from well-developed optical telescope foundations. In such a system, object light enters and exits the optical axis of the internal optical element in a parallel manner. This means that the whole system has no focal length.


In the laser beam extender structure, the objective lens and the imaging lens are reversed. The parallel input beam is concentrated at a point between the objective lens and the imaging lens in the Kepler-type laser beam expander, thus forming a region of laser energy focus (figure 1: Kepler-type laser beam expander diagram). The point of concentration heats the air between the lenses and refracts the light in the path, which can cause wavefront errors. In view of this, most laser diffusers have chosen to use the Galilean laser diffuser design or its variants (figure 2: Galilean laser diffuser diagram)
