Principle of disinfection and sterilization:
The generation mechanism of pulsed strong light is to release the electric energy accumulated in a relatively long time (tens to hundreds of milliseconds) in the form of white light through ionization of inert gas and avalanche discharge in an extremely short time (tens to hundreds of microseconds) through pulse discharge engineering technology. The spectral range (200nm-1100nm) is close to the sunlight, but the instantaneous power can reach ten million times of the sunlight power, which can quickly kill infectious bacteria.
The sterilization mechanism of pulsed strong light can be simply understood as: high energy density, light synergy of different wave bands On the surface of microorganisms, instantly destroy the cell wall and nucleic acid structure of microorganisms, thus killing microorganisms.
The bactericidal mechanism of is mainly summarized as follows:
1) Photochemistry:
Photochemistry refers to the chemical reaction that occurs when substances absorb light energy under the irradiation of visible light or ultraviolet light. The genetic materials in the cells of microorganisms change and become inactive after being irradiated by intense light. Photochemical sterilization refers to that the short wave ultraviolet ray can penetrate the cell wall of the microorganism and act on the internal genetic material of the microorganism, causing the heterotopia or breakage of the double helix structure to achieve the killing effect. The traditional DC ultraviolet lamp sterilization is realized by the photodimerization of microbial cells under 254nm ultraviolet irradiation. The results show that different ultraviolet spectra can induce other different forms of photochemical reactions, such as photo hydration, photo decomposition, photo crosslinking, etc.
Because the light emitted by the pulsed strong light is full spectrum and contains 200-400nm ultraviolet wave band, it has a stronger sterilization effect under the above combined action mechanism, and can also kill more kinds of bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms, expanding the sterilization range.
2) Photothermal effect:
Photothermal effect refers to the temperature rise after the light energy is absorbed by the material. Photothermal sterilization is unique to pulsed strong light technology. Its mechanism is that the high peak power strong light directly irradiates the microbial surface, the microbial surface temperature rises sharply, and the cell wall structure will be completely destroyed and die. This mechanism makes pulsed strong light very effective in killing all microorganisms.
3) Secondary effect:
The short wave ultraviolet ray in the pulsed strong light can ionize the oxygen (O2) in the air to generate ozone (O3), or oxidize the water (H2O) to generate hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Both O3 and H2O2 have bactericidal effects, which will further enhance the sterilization effect.
