General Introduction: Raytek Silicon has the advantages of low cost and low density, which makes it between 1.2 and 7um-region is widely used in NIR materials. Silicon has a very low density (half that of germanium or zinc selenide), so it is ideal for weight sensitive applications, especially those between 3 and 5um range. Its density is 2.33g/cm3, and its Knoop hardness is 1150.
