1.Waveplates are classified according to their structure, including multiple-order wave plates, glued zero-order wave plates or compound zero-order wave plates and true zero-order wave plates. 

1).The true zero-order wave plate has low wavelength sensitivity of retardation, high temperature stability, large acceptance effective angle, and its performance is much better than the other two wave plates. However, true zero-order wave plates are often very thin, so they will encounter many difficulties in manufacturing and use.

2).The thickness of a multi-stage wave plate is equal to a number of full wave thicknesses (n×waves) plus a desired retardation thickness. Multilevel waveplates are relatively easy to manufacture, but their disadvantage is that thWaveplates are divided into materials, and there are various crystal waveplates, polymer waveplates, and liquid crystal waveplates.
