Condensing lenses have shorter focal lengths and lower f/# values than other lenses, so they are used closer to each other or to other optical elements. They are ideal for focusing light to detectors or other light collecting elements. The aspheric surface of the lens is precision moulded, while the flat or convex surface is polished and polished. For best performance, the flatter side of the lens should face the light source.
