This material was developed by OHARA based on our knowledge of High Homogeneity melting and Precise Crystallization. This material is produced under tightly controlled conditions and offers outstanding thermal, mechanical and chemical properties.

1) The zero expansion glass ceramics have special properties. When the temperature changes, the change of geometry and distance is almost zero.
2) Very low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), suitable for a wide range of temperatures
3) Excellent CTE uniformity throughout the material
4) The degree of defect is very low
5) A variety of accurate geometric shapes can be obtained by grinding process
6) When the residual roughness is less than 1 nm, the surface may be very smooth
7) Excellent chemical stability
8) All of these features enable extraordinary reproducibility for small components and for large ton telescopes used in astronomy
