Product Description

Waveplate, also known as phase delay plate, is an optical element that changes the polarization state of light by generating a path difference (or phase difference) between two orthogonal polarization components. When the incident light passes through different types of wave plates, the outgoing light is different, including linear polarized light, elliptical polarized light, circular polarized light, etc. The wave plate is mainly made of quartz, mica, calcite and other birefringent crystals.
Wave plates are divided into glued zero level 1/2 delay wave plates, glued zero level 1/4 delay wave plates, multi-level 1/2 delay wave plates, multi-level 1/4 delay wave plates, etc.

Composite Zero Order Waveplate, also known as composite waveplate, is a method of gluing two multi-level waveplates together. By aligning the fast axis of one waveplate with the slow axis of the other, it eliminates the full wave optical path difference and leaves the required optical path difference. Gluing a zero order wave plate can improve the effect of temperature on the wave plate, but it also increases the sensitivity of the wave plate delay to the incident angle and wavelength.

The thickness of a multiple order waveplate is equal to multiple full wave thicknesses plus one required delay thickness. Multi stage wave plates are easy to produce and manufacture, but they are sensitive to wavelength, temperature, and incidence angle.
